  1. I’m so glad I found this video and your channel. I do have a question. July 11th we drove 4 hours to pick up a male neutered 2 year old black shepherd from a kill shelter. Good with kids, people, other dogs and cats. Energetic and happy.
Currently I have a male neutered 5 year old shepherd Pitt, a spayed female 1.5 white shepherd and a female spayed 11 yr old black lab.
We screwed up and introduced the new rescue to our shepherd Pitt and white shepherd incorrectly. Almost as soon as we got home that night, yes, it was dark, separately we started with the shepherd Pitt face to face on a leash, the white shepherd. Each dog reacted as expected. Barking, growling and lunging with no break in between and so we separated them.

The next day my husband insisted we take the new black shepherd and our white shepherd to a church field and walk them horizontally which once they seen each other they did the exact same thing they did the night before but then he wanted them to gradually walk them behind the baseball fence, each dog on each side. That was just as bad.

Since then they have remained totally separated. I’m too scared to introduce them that the next time we may really mess up any chance for good of getting them to eventually be together.

Currently the black shepherd is on one side of the house while the others are on the other side.

Btw, we did introduce the new dog to our 11yr old black lab and they did great.
I believe the shepherd pitt will probably do ok also but I am now overly skeptical in what the next step should be to introduce a third time especially with our white shepherd and the new black shepherd. I don’t want to make the third introduction be the last one or for them to get hurt etc.

If we walk them I know for days they will lunge and bark etc.. if we do walk them and they do what they did before do I just continue to keep doing daily walks in hope they stop one day or should we go about a total different route? I really want this to work.
    Thanks

  2. Thank you so much for this clear, positive, extremely helpful teaching video. I’m about to take on my most complex new dog situation and, want to do it right. I have a 6 year old PB who I rehabbed, she was found near death but, was emotionally healthy. And, am about to bring in a 3ish year old male, unknown breed, maybe 60 lbs, who’s been living in the woods most of his life and suffered terrible abuse. So, he needs serious physical and emotional support, love, time as he’s terrified of both dogs and people. I deeply respect and trust the rescue owner, she’s taking him to the vet Monday and hopefully having him fixed, if he’s well enough. She just told me I should keep him in a separate room completely from my PB which is tricky with the house layout. And, I’m debating on having them both in my room overnight, each in a cozy crate, not close to each other as a way to ease him into our routine and family life. I’m concerned about the fact that I’m single. So, I have a blowhorn. But, if a fight erupts, it’s just me. Primarily I’m a safety hyper one so, do not want either hurt. Sorry for the length. If anyone has any suggestions, I’m grateful. Wishing you a beautiful day 💐

  3. We just adopted a dog who according to the center has “no aggression” towards other dogs. Bring her home, first thing she does is goes right at our dog. Going to give this video a try, but she loses it anytime she sees or hears the dog that was already here
