‼️Pet Loss & Self-Criticism go hand in hand or 🐾 & 🐾.
❤️🩹Even in the “best” of circumstances, most of us struggle with blame, guilt, or criticism after the death of our animal companion. And, it’s often self-directed.
😢Our animal was our responsibility and now they are gone. These feelings are natural, normal, and oh so hard to soothe.
💔And, it is often a self-punishment that is unwarranted and unhelpful to moving through grief.
✨There are times when these feelings can be useful to help us learn, grow, and process. So, allow them in, name them, feel them, and own them. But, getting mired in them can really be devastating. So, as best we can, we try to release them.
💪For many of us, that begins with self-compassion: talking to ourselves like we would talk to a friend.
🧡You are not alone.
